IDAHO TRAUMA REGISTRY INCLUSION CRITERIA

 

All patients with at least one injury from ICD-9 (International Classification of Diseases by the American Medical Association) diagnosis codes, as follows:

 

CRITERIA INCLUDE:

 

800.00 – 959.9            Injuries, including 940 – 949 (burns)

 

994.1                           Drowning and not fatal submersion

 

994.7                           Asphyxiation and strangulation

 

994.8                           Electrocution and nonfatal effects of electric current

 

760.5                           Fetus or newborn affected by maternal conditions classifiable to 800.00 – 995.00

 

AND                Who were admitted as an inpatient,

 

OR                  Who died after receiving any evaluation or treatment or were dead on arrival,

 

OR                  Who transferred into or out of the hospital via ambulance.

 

CRITERIA EXCLUDE:

 

905 – 909                    Late effects of injuries, poisonings, toxic effects, and other external causes

 

910 - 919                     Superficial injuries

 

920 - 924                     Contusion with intact skin surface

 

930 - 939                     Foreign bodies entering through orifice

 

Ground-Level Falls      ONLY IF patient is >65 years of age and has an isolated

(885-886)                    extremities fracture. Pelvic fractures are not exempt from inclusion.
